Buying advice

Choosing Built-in double electric ovens

A built-in double electric oven gives you two cooking spaces in a tall kitchen housing. It is a practical choice if you prepare family meals, entertain regularly or need to grill while the main oven is in use.

Check the functions in each cavity, because the smaller compartment may combine a conventional oven and grill rather than matching the main fan oven. Usable capacity, shelf positions and control layout matter more than the outside size alone.

Measure the cabinet aperture and ventilation space before ordering. Double ovens usually have a higher electrical load than many single models, so confirm the required cooker circuit and arrange installation by a suitably qualified person.

Cavity functions

Check what each compartment can do and whether the oven and grill can operate together.

Total capacity

Compare usable space, shelf positions and tray sizes across both cavities.

Tall-housing fit

Measure the cabinet aperture, ventilation allowance and a comfortable installation height.

Key questions

Are both cavities full ovens?

Not always. The smaller cavity may be a conventional oven and grill, while the larger cavity provides fan cooking. Check the listed functions for each one.

Can both ovens be used at once?

Many models allow this, but check the operating instructions and electrical requirements for the specific oven.

Does a double electric oven need hardwiring?

Most need a suitable dedicated cooker circuit because of their electrical load. Have the existing supply checked before delivery if you are unsure.

Will a new double oven fit my old housing?

Not automatically. Compare the exact aperture, appliance depth, ventilation and door clearances with the manufacturer's installation drawing.

Should I choose built-in or built-under?

Choose built-in for a tall housing and a more comfortable shelf height. Choose a purpose-made built-under double oven when it must sit below the worktop.
