Choosing Built-under double electric ovens

A built-under double electric oven provides two cooking spaces in a cabinet below the worktop. It is useful when you want the flexibility of a second cavity but do not have, or do not want, a tall oven housing. The lower position needs more bending than an eye-level oven, so consider how easily you can reach the controls and shelves.

Compare the functions and capacity of both cavities, including whether the smaller one acts as an oven and grill. Measure the niche, worktop height and door clearance carefully. These models commonly require a dedicated cooker circuit, so check the electrical rating and have the supply confirmed by a suitably qualified installer before fitting.

What makes an oven built-under?

It is specifically designed to fit below a standard-height worktop. Its dimensions and ventilation arrangement differ from many ovens intended for tall housings.

Can I put a hob above a built-under double oven?

Often, but only when the hob, oven, worktop and electrical layout meet both manufacturers' instructions. Check clearance and ventilation before buying.
