A fridge is best when you want generous fresh-food storage without using freezer space in the same cabinet. It suits households that cook with fresh ingredients, shop little and often, or already have a separate freezer elsewhere.
Under-counter fridges work well in smaller kitchens, offices and utility spaces, while tall larder fridges give much more room for family groceries, drinks, chilled meals and fresh produce. Built-in fridges are ideal for a fitted kitchen look, but freestanding fridges are easier to position and usually give more choice on height and capacity.
Before choosing, check shelf layout, salad drawers, bottle storage and whether the door can be reversed to suit your kitchen. Noise level is also worth considering if the fridge is near a dining or living space.
